Obama: Cambridge Police Acted Stupidly
President Obama remarks on recent events concerning Harvard Professor Dr. Henry Louis Gates and Cambridge police.
President Barack Obama pitched his healthcare ideas to the American people during a prime time press conference Wednesday night.
He raised a series of points and responded to a series of questions regarding the cost, setbacks and challenges of the U.S. economy, should his plan succeed.
His last question of the evening came from Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times. She asked him about his thoughts on the recent incident involving Dr. Henry Louis Gates and the Cambridge police department.
President Obama's first statement was that Dr. Gates is a friend of his; so his opinion may be a bit biased. He went on to say that anyone who was in a situation like that would have been frustrated.
Most interestingly, the president went on to say that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting someone when there was already proof that they were in their own home.
For a man whose words are measured and weighed carefully, the fact that he said it at all should tell you volumes about what he thinks about the situation.
There's no telling where this story will go next, but my bet is that it won't be long until another shoe drops on the topic.
