Diabesity author Dr. Francine Kaufman says this generation of children may be the first to live shorter lives than their parents. Actor Omar Epps, star of TV's House, reflects on family and his ever-expanding career.
Francine Kaufman
Dr. Francine Kaufman is an international authority on diabetes and obesity. She heads the Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and has developed innovative programs for overweight and diabetic children and their families. Kaufman created several tools for managing diabetes and was instrumental in banning soda vending machines on many public school campuses. Her book Diabesity is a call to action to reverse the obesity and diabetes epidemics.
Omar Epps
Multitalented Omar Epps began writing screenplays at age 10 and got his start in TV. The Brooklyn native made his film debut in Juice and has since starred in The Wood, Against the Ropes and Alfie. His TV credits include ER and the Fox medical drama House. Epps is also a songwriter, producer and performer with the hip-hop group Wolfpak. Along with childhood pals Marlon and Shawn Wayans, he wrote the theme song for the WB's The Wayans Bros. Epps recently formed BKNY, a film and music entertainment company.
