Sen. Susan Collins gives a firsthand account of the role of women in Iraq. R&B's newest star John Legend speculates on music of the future and performs a song from his new CD.
Sen. Susan Collins
The Associated Press named GOP Sen. Susan Collins one of the ten members to watch in the 109th Congress. Elected to the Senate in '96, Collins was the first freshman to lead the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. She chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee and is a member of the Armed Services Committee. She co-authored the intelligence reform legislation that implements many of the 9-11 Commission's recommendations. Collins also sits on the Holocaust Memorial Council, which oversees the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
John Legend
Multi-talented John Legend has an old-school R&B vibe and is living up to the 'legend' of past soul greats. His CD, "Get Lifted," hit the charts with a bullet. Legend was singing and playing piano at age 5 and directing the church choir at age 10. After college graduation, he played local NY clubs and released CDs that he sold at shows. He was also an impressive session musician, working with the likes of Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears and the Black Eyed Peas. Signing with Kanye West resulted in his first major label release.
