Harry Johnson, president of the MLK National Memorial Foundation, discusses the challenges of the project. Law & Order star S. Epatha Merkerson discusses her new HBO film, Lackawanna Blues.
Harry Johnson
Harry Johnson is President of the Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation, a nonprofit established by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Dr. King was a member of the fraternity, and Johnson is its immediate past national president. A native of St. Louis, MO, Johnson is a partner in a Houston, TX law firm and a board member of National Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He's a graduate of Xavier University and Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
S. Epatha Merkerson
Most people know S. Epatha Merkerson from NBC's long-running drama Law & Order. Others know her from Pee-wee's Playhouse, her first TV role. Merkerson has an impressive list of stage, TV and film credits. She won several awards, including an Emmy, for her role in HBO's Lackawanna Blues and received a Tony nod for her performance in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Piano Lesson. The Detroit native has a degree from Wayne State University and is an outspoken advocate for lung cancer research.
